Idealist Poster

Reimagining nutrition

In honor of health and nutrition, a decorative poster was designed and illustrated to portray the purity of consuming fresh foods and the nutritional benefits derived from it. Although not entirely similar, the style was loosely inspired by Art Nouveau.

  • Color profile: U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2

Fifth Fridays Poster

Illustrative typography

Custom typography and accompanying illustrations were created to brand and promote a recurring social event for clients at Specific Media. The Utopia Adobe font was used to create the modified type, and interior gradients were added for elegance.

Crossy Road Chicken

Fun with perspective

Using the main character from the arcade video game Crossy Road as reference, this self-directed project was designed to gain experience creating three-dimensional illustrations using two-dimensional tools. Shadows were calculated based on an imaginary light source and were drawn in the proper perspective to create a more convincing 3D appearance.

Holiday Greeting Card

Spreading holiday cheer

The intent of this self-initiated holiday card was to utilize digital illustrations and typography to create a bold, clean holiday aesthetic. This was achieved by using a limited color palette and by creating simple but easily identifiable illustrations.

  • Greeting card size: 5” x 7” folded
  • Color profile: U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2

Working with depth and volume

Modifying 3D rendered objects with conventional photo editing software can create a fun and unique style.

The difference is night and day

Adobe Illustrator's new 3D tools can be used to create three-dimensional objects and render them with custom lighting and materials. This scene was composed using 3D rendered objects that were later modified in Photoshop to add custom layers and effects. All of the elements were modified to create the illusion of night and day. Move the slider above to transition between the two.

From vision to reality, these are the tools that make it happen.

From the page to the screen

Because most designs begin as a sketch, digital illustration was a natural progression for me. The biggest challenge, however, was trying to depict three-dimensional forms in a two-dimensional environment. For this reason, much time was taken to calculate each light source and determine the proper perspectives. The results are more convincing when both of these elements are considered.
